I've been photographing this family in Moorhead for three years and each year gets better and better. I adore these people and I think they might adore me too! Well at least one of them sure does. I'll let you decide who. ;)
Oh these dear clients turned friends. I've known Lauren & Robby for a couple years now. We first meet when Lauren wanted to put together a little film to surprise Robby with what her vows meant to her now. A short while later she contacted me again, letting me know she was pregnant and wanted to put together something to announce their pregnancy and then bam- 9 months later, we have Ames. (Bam, just like that. Easy peasy, right Lauren?) I was once again so priveledged to document such a huge moment in their life, but this time at Essentia hospital.
Watching Robby and Lauren is like watching synchronized swimming, but way more entertaining. ;) They work together like a fine tuned machine. There is humor, there is patience, there is grace.
Robby brings the calm and Lauren brings much joy. Lauren had a c section and she was the bravest momma. At one point I caught a glimpse of her being prepped through the tiny square window that looked into the OR and she was laughing. I kid you not, laughing with nurses while being prepped for her c section.
Well hello 2017. I'm writing to apologize for being the worst blogger of 2016. I promise to be better this year. Well at least I promise to be sort of better this year. Because let's be real, life gets busy and this poor blog gets neglected sometimes.
You will notice some changes around here though. 2017 is the year of authenticity for Northern Stories. I am committing to documenting your (and my own!) story authentically. Here's to real life. Here's to the moments that you love when you're lounging around in your sweatpants at home. Here's to not having to bribe your kiddo with candy for that perfect shot. Here's to spilled coffee and messy faces, dirty laundry and full sinks. To babies in diapers and tweens being tweens. Cheers to aunt Betty's sweet dance moves at your wedding and laughing when you mess up your vows because you're so dang excited. Here's to real life.
These two... I don't have many words to describe just how sweet they are. Check out their adorableness for yourself.
Last night it poured. I mean really poured. The kind of downpour where you are out for seconds and so drenched it looks like you've showered. Sometimes you've just gotta run in the pouring rain with your sister.
Diapers, rainboots and a whole lot of cute in this edition of 15 Second Friday.
Congratulations Belle and Evan, we wouldn't have wanted to celebrate in a downpour with anyone else! Stay tuned for a full blog post.
I met up with Meredith and Jared in Minneapolis for their engagement shoot last month. Within minutes of our meeting, I could tell that they were a perfect match. Meredith was so kind and Jared a walking example of gentleness. To say I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and can't wait for their wedding this fall would be a total understatement.
You can read a bit more about their story below:
"It’s funny in life how even the most circuitous paths can find their way to each other. Jared, a sun and ocean-loving Californian, and I, a sunscreen-wearing prairie-loving North Dakotan, were on two different journeys that somehow brought us together in Rochester, MN. I’d like to think we had been looking up at the same sky wishin’ for “the one” to enter our worlds all these years. After meeting each other, it was that feeling that all you’ve been missing in life is wrapped up in this one person. We shared laughs, tears, tea, and passion for life and all its gifts. And that was it… this was the start of our forever.
I’ve always thought it fitting that we met in our residencies - fields we both chose to serve others - because marriage is the choice, such an important choice, you both make to serve one another through life - the happy, the sad, the joys, and the difficulties. We have very similar hearts. We share love of God, family, friends, outdoors, quiet times, hobbies - you name it. In a year together, we have traveled to new places, sang loudly at concerts, admired art museums, and tasted delicious food. Whatever lies ahead will be an incredible journey, now sharing the same path. Everything I had envisioned for a life well lived has been gifted to me in Jared. He is my very greatest earthly blessing." -Meredith
